ABSTRACT

This is an introduction to what you'll find when you open the program for the first time. For those with no experience in graphic art software, it can be a bit overwhelming to see the workspace with all the palettes. This chapter breaks things down and shows you that you only need to be concerned with some basic elements. As you become more comfortable with Painter, you can add more palettes and skills if you'd like. Once you learn Painter, you'll find other graphic art programs work similarly but may be more limited. I discuss layers in this chapter. Layers is one of the most important concepts to understand about graphic art programs and is a powerful tool in digital composites.
