ABSTRACT

Another aspect of forensic art is the postmortem drawing. This is a drawing of unidentified fleshed remains, usually done at the request of a medical examiner's office. Often the remains are somewhat decomposed. The artist needs to know how to erase the signs of decomposition and render the victim as lifelike as possible in an attempt to get an identification. In this chapter, I discuss postmortem changes to the body and walk you through a postmortem drawing step by step, showing the life photo of the victim at the end of the process.
