To draw realistically, you need to understand how light and shadow affect shapes. A line drawing doesn't show shape and dimension, and a composite without shading is difficult for a witness to see as the face of a realistic person. I talk here about how light falls on a skull, about what features project, what features recede, and how they flow together.
