ABSTRACT
The Subcontractors are bullied into unpaid acceleration, but the job runs over by months anyway, due to the Contractor's incompetence and the mass of additional works that should have been in the project design in the first place. The accusations of delay start flying around, huge chunks of money are knocked off the subbie's account and the battle is on to prove specialist subcontractor’s entitlement to time and money. This is the 'twilight zone' a place where specialist subcontractors definitely don't want to be, because it's going to cost their money, it's going to distract them from doing what specialist subcontractors do best, and it's going to be very stressful. The result is often a financial disaster for the subbie by way of additional costs, unpaid variations and spurious contra charges from the Contractor for alleged delays.
