ABSTRACT

The process of recovering entitlements, both as to time and money, at the end of such a job, can be long and expensive. The subbie may be told that the 'little tin god' had no authority. Alternatively, 'LTG' may have been promoted to a new plant in Outer Mongolia or Scunthorpe, where communications are notoriously difficult. The perceived extent of that individual's contractual authority can expand far beyond anything in the documents, if indeed Client or Employer has any such powers at all. To a lesser extent, the same situation can apply to such people as consulting engineers, clerks of works, architects and the growing army of 'coordinators'.
