ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the case study cities of Glasgow, Vancouver and Portland. Policy makers in these cities discussed the challenges of developing policy, and how both formal and informal processes have enabled them to engage stakeholders. Formally, the cities demonstrate the importance of creating organisational structures that support climate leadership. Informally, the importance of relationship building and building trust in order to collaborate with stakeholders in responding to climate change was emphasised. Additionally, policy makers stressed the value of finding narratives and exploring new ways of doing.
