ABSTRACT

Photocatalysis is emerging as a promising area with varied applications like wastewater treatment, self-cleaning, energy conversion and storage, antifogging, artificial photosynthesis, etc. Recently, a new frontier has been added to it and that photokilling of bacteria, and also antitumor activities. Search is still on for newer and effective photocatalyst, which can have still better antimicrobial activity. Since nanomaterials have high surface-to-volume ratio, and therefore, photocatalytic materials with nanosize may prove to be more active than their micro- and macrocounterparts. Here, photocatalytic activity of nanosized photocatalytic materials has been reviewed.
