ABSTRACT

This chapter provides a brief description of the recipes and the type of learning experience and deals with EYFS recipe guidance. The recipes begin with simple suggestions for preparing fruit and salad in different ways. This will give the children the opportunity to use equipment and to learn some of the skills involved in food preparation. Trekenner decided to use the fruit salad as a way of introducing a snack cafe. One group prepared a large fruit salad and then the children came to buy their fruit at snack time. A simple idea is given for children to prepare their own mini salad pot. Once they are become confident, pots are left on the table for them to make their own snack. When the children were eating their rice cakes a practitioner stopped to ask them about their creations and used it as an opportunity to talk about shape and properties.
