ABSTRACT
‘Impact’ is a word constantly mentioned when solutions to challenges in society are discussed. Facing large-scale challenges, we can wonder if it is possible that we, as individuals, can affect these issues, never mind have any material impact on them. We can, in our own unique way, as we will see.
Despite what we read, we have made significant progress in the past decades in addressing a number of major societal issues – by mobilising resources together.
The incredible pace of technological advancement in every sphere means we have solutions to many previously intractable problems within our grasp – if we mobilise ourselves.
We are now witnessing the rise of Impact coalitions – large numbers of organisations teaming up across sectors (business, governments and NGOs/not-for-profits) – to focus on creating and delivering solutions at scale on a particular issue.
With business awakening to their role (and profitable business opportunity) and solutions becoming available, this really is the right moment to create a Purpose-driven career.
