ABSTRACT

Before we go into how to practically affect a career change – Discovery and Fruition – we need to understand what kind of leadership competencies and skills are needed to be successful – as a leader – in affecting societal change, whether at our current employers or in a new career.

The aim is not to make you a skills and competencies expert – a whole book could be written about this one topic – it is to provide a reference framework understanding what you bring to the table today and what you might want to develop.

It is perfectly fine to skim-read and return in earnest when you have potential target areas for your activities in mind and want to present yourself and your accomplishments to this new set of stakeholders and collaborators or re-craft your CV.

The below might seem like a long list of skills and competencies, but as we will discover, learning how to become good at our Career Transformational Assets – self-knowledge, openness to new experiences, and building strategic and diverse networks – will unlock many of the skills and competencies for being more effective leaders and developing our new careers.
