ABSTRACT

In the manufacturing era, there is hardly any aspect of customer life that is untouched by the applications of Additive Manufacturing (AM) technology. Though its initial use was restricted to prototype production, AM has emerged as a full-fledged technology and has a broad spectrum of applications in direct and indirect prototyping, as well as tooling and manufacturing. AM continues to transform the manufacturing paradigm, including design, as well as the way in which production capital is distributed. The AM industry is extending itself to serve society via three-dimensional printers in homes, offices, schools, factories, etc. It will totally change the market scenario. Since World War II, the people’s general quality of life has been increased owing to easy availability of medicines, vaccines and advancements in surgical procedures. The mortality rate has been reduced globally which has led to steady increase in overall population as also the increased aged population.
