ABSTRACT

The adaptive gear variator is a wheelwork with constant engagement of toothed wheels and with the variable transmission ratio. The toothed variator executes functions of continuously variable transmission (CVT). The modern CVT contains a multistage transmission in combination with a hydromechanical control system and the hydromechanical converter. The concept “variator” means, at present, the frictional mechanism with the variable transmission ratio. CVT are widely applied in the motor industry. Two variants of an automatic gearbox with the variable transmission ratio are used: automaton and variator. Circulation of energy increases if a moment of resistance increases and a rotational velocity of the output shaft decreases. Such acting of the adaptive gear variator is analogously with acting of the hydraulic transformer with that difference, that the carrying agent of circulating energy is the closed contour from toothed wheels instead of the closed fluid stream.
