ABSTRACT

There is actually an increasing effort to foster Construction and Demolition Wastes (CDW) recycling in many countries. To allow the increasing of recycling rates it is necessary to have good quality sources of wastes. Those wastes need to have been sorted and a deconstruction is preferable to a demolition even if for some operations it can be more expensive. Wastes Management plans have a high impact on the sorting but demolition techniques are also very important. The present chapter makes of a short review on existing demolition techniques and gives indications on their impact on recycling. The chapter also makes a point on the study of variability made in the RECYBÉTON project in order to check if sorting is actually efficient enough to allow recycling of demolition concrete into concrete.
