ABSTRACT

Choreography is an important option for undergraduate students interested in dance research. Although the research terminology is steeped in science disciplines, the process of creating a new choreographic work has similar components. Students may conduct research through traditional means or through an embodied, improvisational approach. Students may document their process of choreography in various ways including by writing an artist statement, or by producing a formal paper. In this chapter, examples from the University of Delaware Dance Minor Capstone course and from national conferences are included.
