ABSTRACT

The design approach to transmedia projects implies the design thinking process behind the ideation, building, and execution of transmedia stories. This vast domain has yet to be further explored by scholars, researchers, and practitioners alike. This chapter reviews recent relevant developments in transmedia project design and focuses on the intertwined relations of transmedia design, systems, and models. The theoretical framework refers to the design process and transmedia stories as systems. The empirical approach addresses transmedia design analytical and operational models, highlighting Gambarato’s (2013) transmedia project design model.
