ABSTRACT

Within the context of a “post-film era,” transmedia storytelling on a micro-budget has been refashioned to depict personal narratives exploring the diversity of Scottish culture. The rise of accessible digital technologies has resulted in this “post-film” era that has enabled anyone to become a filmmaker. This chapter will both explore experimentation with transmedia storytelling on a micro-budget level and provide case studies of filmmakers that have experimented with these technologies in aiding their projects within Scotland. The results of which have, increasingly, contrasted the dominance of social realism in Scottish media production.
