ABSTRACT

Millennials are incorrectly stereotyped and misrepresented. However, they do see the world differently than previous generations, maintain different priorities, and place value on different parts of their lives. Millennials have labeled themselves as the new breed of employee who is misunderstood and undervalued, when in reality, they hide behind the hard work of their peers who are exceptional performers. However, before reassignment to a new department or removal from the organization altogether, business leaders should analyze from a holistic view while objectively asking several questions. Reassignment to a new department that is a better fit or removal from the organization altogether could be the best course of action. While undesirable at the time, the long-term benefits will offset the temporary hardship. Leaders are the primary reason employees leave their jobs. Instead of looking at employees as the source of the problem, address the issue from a different vantage point.
