ABSTRACT

Technology and innovation are quite simply the reasons Uber, Lyft, and Airbnb became legitimate forces in their respective markets. Uber and Lyft became prominent competitors to taxi companies almost overnight. The approach Uber, Lyft, and Airbnb took to orchestrate successful businesses relies heavily on active participation from both seller and buyer. Uber and Lyft created a far superior model, with passengers able to track the driver's course from the time they request a ride to the moment they are dropped off at their end destination. Uber, Lyft, and Airbnb capitalized on the inefficiencies that taxi services and hotels consistently had. Uber and Lyft's innovative use of technology delivered vehicles to passenger locations quicker, minimizing lag time. Millennials were the first to use innovative start-ups. They love teamwork, value collaboration, and were excited to invest in the innovative businesses that promoted a communal approach. Millennials have an unrelenting desire to actively engage others every chance they get.
