ABSTRACT

“You know Joel, often it is difficult for me to deeply share my heart.” I blurted this out because I was impatient with myself, not so much with the confused Joel. Although he has been in Ubuntuville for a reasonable amount of time, he is still considered a fairly new arrival. I realised that I had not told him much about myself. He had seen me explode emotionally, and perhaps irrationally in his eyes. So I resolved that I must share my heart with him. “These matters, I mean – land, history, Ubuntu, the current democratic era, black poverty, reconciliation and other emotional issues that have engulfed our past as black people have a deep emotional space in my heart.”
