The book discusses the feminist movement, feminist theory, types of feminist perspectives, and an introduction to feminist ethics, research methods, and how feminism is situated in applied sport psychology. It describes multicultural and feminist ethics from both a general psychological and sport psychological orientation sharing the unique challenges feminist practitioners face with their work and recommendations for maintaining an ethical, socially just, and competent practice. The book addresses the various forms of feminist research, challenges to feminist research, and outlines research ethics and ethical decision making as a feminist-oriented researcher. It examines the intersection of race, class, and gender in feminist politics, the genesis of Black feminism and Womanism, their applicability to applied sport and exercise psychology, and how to integrate a Black feminist or Womanist approach into professionals’ applied sport psychology practice.
