ABSTRACT

The Himalaya is the abode of a great variety of people. They include the peace loving lamas, the rustic people of the secluded valleys, the war-loving Dard, semi-nomadic pastoral tribes, talented weavers, skilled craftsmen, good carvers and even head-hunters. The topography of the Himalaya precludes intermingling and quick movement. Monpas and Sherduk Pen. They reside in Kameng division and are Buddhists. Kameng River originates beyond the Ulla range of the Himalayas in Tibet region. Its total length is 264 km. People follow the Lama cult. They are good weavers and agriculturists. They are peace loving, Mongoloid in appearance and are under the influence of Tibetan culture. Agriculture is the mainstay of Tangsas who lives in Tirap. Brahm Kund 25–6 km from Tezu in Lohit area. It is also known as Parasuram Kund. Mishmis are also known as Chulikatta and Idu. Kinnaur is a breathtakingly scenic and sparsely populated tract with turbulent torrents and great Mountain ranges.
