ABSTRACT

Stress histories of critical points on bogie components are needed for a fatigue strength analysis. Multibody simulations of a railway vehicle are conducted to obtain the stress histories. Two different models are used, a rigid model and an elastic model where the bogie frame and the antenna carrier are represented by a certain number of modes. The simulation scenario is derived from measurement data. Afterwards a modal stress calculation is carried out and the obtained stress histories are compared to a stress history calculated from a strain gauge measurement. The results are analyzed in frequency and amplitude distribution domain. Equivalent amplitudes are calculated to compare the stress histories easily. The rigid multibody simulation underestimates the equivalent amplitude by 40% and the elastic multibody simulation overestimates the equivalent amplitude by 16.9% compared to the measurement.
