ABSTRACT
This chapter gives an introduction to the basic underlying theories for quantitative modeling of reliability and maintenance. It presents the fundamental definitions of life distribution functions typically used and shows different techniques for analyzing the system of components. Finally, it gives a brief summary of available tools for reliability evaluations.
