ABSTRACT
A protagonist’s allies are a key component in illustrating and exemplifying potential choices and outcomes for the protagonist. This chapter offers the different ways in which allies: (1) serve as a support system for the protagonist’s outer journey, (2) illustrate a protagonist’s uniqueness, and (3) are used to raise tension when properly written.
