ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the parameters of analytical propensity + artistic drive (A/A/D) as a precursor to taking a closer look at Career Duality (CD) and making CD choices. CD describes the coexistence of two careers that satisfy both the analytic and artistic duality represented by A/A/D. The CD model helps distinguish between CD as a conceptual framework versus making a CD choice. A/A/D, the first tier of the CD model, represents a type of personal duality. If A/A/D is a type of duality, maintaining two careers is a corresponding duality to fulfill it. The grid labels identify each quadrant and offer insight into the range of possible duality choices. The grid uses time as a measure of commitment to career pursuits. The grid helps illustrate the interplay of artistic drive and analytical propensity as they relate to actualizing A/A/D to facilitate CD.
