ABSTRACT
This chapter describes the benefits and challenges of Career Duality (CD). It aims to map out specific how-to’s and strategies for managing those challenges while fully exploring the possibilities, with a view toward fashioning a career that is personally authentic and responsive to inner callings, as suggested by the CD model. There is an emotional component that accompanies Career Duality dilemma. Analytical propensity + artistic drive palpably feel like a dilemma, at times. Managing the intrinsic challenge is a real one to consider in contemplating CD. Two master’s phenomenon involves managing feelings associated with being part of multiple communities, yet “master” of none of those communities. Managing extrinsic challenges becomes a simpler task once the intrinsic dialogue is settled. The two primary external challenges of CD are time management and managing the expectations of others. There are strategies that can be employed to maximize the preceding array of CD advantages and manage its challenges.
