ABSTRACT

In a very real sense, system management is the science of everything, and it provides a method for structuring, analyzing, and improving the results of any system–from the reduction of greenhouse gases to strategic planning. Its primary first ingredient is logos, a conscious will that wishes to influence the necessary parts of the natural world to accomplish a result. The concept of wicked problems was introduced in the late 1960s to describe problems that are difficult or impossible to solve because of incomplete and contradictory information sources, changing requirements, and interdependent causes. The leadership perspective of system management suggests that the presentation of significant business questions in the form of a business purpose or aim and subsequent system mapping would assist in evaluating the value or structuring the presentation of data to achieve the best possible result. System management presents a missing puzzle piece that is likely to unlock untold new benefits in the future.
