Introduction

This chapter introduces the main purpose and goal of the book, to serve as a resource for those considering I-O Psychology as a career. We hope to help people in learning more about the field, making important decisions, and attaining career goals. We define I-O Psychology and how to become an I-O Psychologist, introduce the academic and career choices that are available across various sectors, referring to chapters that discuss different issues in detail. We introduce the authors of career vignettes included throughout the book who illustrate the many different paths and stories in becoming an I-O Psychologist. Finally, we introduce ourselves and mention other acknowledgements and online materials.
