ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the developments of the Confucianism, Discipline, and Competitiveness dimensions over time. It is concerned with longitudinal charts of discipline, academic performance, and competitiveness over time to explore whether there are similar temporal patterns. The chapter analyses the relationship between discipline and academic performance in 2015, and the relationship between academic performance and national competitiveness over time; spanning from the micro student to the macro national level. It provides a realistic forecast of the effects over time on academic performance and on global competitiveness when discipline levels are maintained or enhanced. The literature has long explored the interplay of education and economic performance of some sorts. For nations, the challenge is to maintain or increase their global competitiveness, as captured by the World Economic Forum. Chris Baumann and Simon Harvey found evidence for the important role of competitiveness in driving human performance.
