ABSTRACT

In this present research, the application of aggregate of acid migmatite in asphalt mixture was evaluated experimentally. In order to study the performance of aggregate of acid migmatite, 7 kinds of mixture were designed by Marshall method. And 6 kinds of different test methods were used, such as stability ratio test, indirect tensile strength ratio test, rutting test, scouring & pumping test after short-term aging in lab, scouring & pumping test after long-term aging and scouring & pumping test for field cores of asphalt pavement. These test results show that the anti-rutting and anti-moisture performance of the asphalt mixture of aggregate of acid migmatite by adding hydrated lime and using fine aggregate of limestone at the same time, is very close to that of asphalt mixture with aggregate of limestone asphalt mixture, which is widely and successfully used in China. This present research shows that the change rate of bulk density by scouring & pumping test after short-term or long-term aging, is a good indicator to evaluate the anti-moisture performance of asphalt mixture.
