ABSTRACT

Pavement design is an important fundamental actor in road design. Loads exerted on the road by vehicles are compensated by pavement and distributed to the lower sections in order to prevent distortions and failures. In this article, cost analysis effect of flexible pavement design is given. Beginning with a brief explanation regarding flexible pavement design in Turkey. Malkara Hayrabolu Provincial Road flexible pavement design is chosen as an example and pavement cost analysis for this project is made accordingly. Layer thickness as a result of pavement design is analyzed based on cost. Cost changes with respect to subgrade strengthening with lime stabilization are calculated. Finally, a cost comparison between flexible pavement with or without lime stabilization is performed.
