ABSTRACT

Innovation in an organization may seem a paradoxical process. Organizations that carefully plan for it are not at all assured of success, while organizations in adverse conditions sometimes succeed in making a major turnaround Innovation creates a lot of tension in organizations, and is often experienced as both challenging and uncomfortable for those involved. Organizational innovation is considered to be any organizational or business change situation where disruption is experienced by those involved between the existing and the desired situation. Innovation is experienced as jumping from familiar ground into unknown, sometimes challenging domains. The focal attention of this study is directed towards understanding the process of conceiving the innovation project by the parties involved and the interaction among the parties to deal with the innovation task. The project leader played a crucial role in shaping the requirements of the system and the critical questions of the user group.
