ABSTRACT

Once you are ready to change your community health delivery system, there is a need to develop a process to accomplish it and a need for someone to lead it successfully. This chapter discusses the improvement process to make that change happen. There is a need to have a vehicle to make it happen and coordinate community partner efforts. The vehicle is a community coalition, and it needs to have a backbone (anchor) organization to support it. The anchor organization gets things going and provides the support and logistics to hold the coalition meetings. This chapter discusses how to organize community coalitions and to lead them. This chapter also discusses the skills needed and explains the difference between a Community Chief Health Strategist and a Transformational Leader.
