ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the four roles of a Transformative Community Coalition Leader. It includes a discussion of the knowledge and skill needed to know when each role is appropriate and how to shift quickly from one role to the other to keep a coalition moving forward to achieve its desired objective. These roles can be performed outside of the coalition meeting, for example, when planning for a meeting or during the meeting to keep it on track. The Transformative Community Coalition Leader will also have to be able to lead the coalition across many merging organizational cultures that are developing into the coalition culture. The Transformative Leadership approach is to make sure that the coalition collectively is better than the individual parts that comprise it.
