ABSTRACT

Public relations units (PRUs) have become widespread in the Omani government’s entities, which reflects both the gradual development of these units and how important they are in the structure of the considered entities. In this chapter, a historical background about the early emergence of public relations practices in the Sultanate of Oman and its development will be provided. The study will also provide an analytical and critical description of the current public relations structures, functions, and practices in 23 ministries under the Civil Service System (CSS) in Oman, drawing on previous literature and on reports and documents available about PRUs in these ministries.
