ABSTRACT
This chapter argues that the policies so far conceived and undertaken by the political parties while being fastened with a common thread, that is the capitalist growth, are more or less accepted as righteous by the people of all classes. It also argues that the Communist Left had played an effective role in the expansion of capital in agriculture through the Green Revolution Technology introduced by the central government. Rene Veron had conducted a significant study to examine whether democratic decentralization really stands as good governance which in the process increases the state's accountability. The chapter addresses a sociological point of view in relation to the question of rural employment. It explores the potentiality of the social policies to deliver social justice, and the actual character of democracy that is prevailing in the country. The chapter shows that the policies being championed by the major political parties are essentially the same and guided by a dominant ideology.
