ABSTRACT

Chapter 5 offers a general review of the literature, basic assumptions and etiology of corruption, and the processes by which it has permeated the Nigerian political and civic culture. Citing specific cases and examples, the discussion also includes the economic and societal effects; as well as the fact that corruption could also undermine policies such as privatization of public utilities from serving the greater welfare of the Nigerian public.
