ABSTRACT

When any newly graduating scholar enters the academic job market, there are innumerable worries, anxiety about being able to find a job, concern about whether the hard work being done will be valued. Elena’s job search was compounded by our desire to find one institution where we could both work. An issue easily overlooked is fitting in with the culture of the city you move to. It is this problem that we will be focusing on, for it was an issue that had the least influence over our decisions to accept our positions at Utah Valley University (UVU) but has become the leading factor in our job satisfaction.
