ABSTRACT

The creative and technological process with which the teachers reflected and recorded their lives from fall of 2015 to spring of 2017 introduced new possibilities for how other teachers and students of all ability levels can explore their educational experience and themselves as learners, through technology. Technology played an important role in understanding what it was like being in their classroom. The experiences of Louise and her fellow participants highlighted the ability of technology to offer interactive pathways for students’ and teachers’ reflection and growth, and to offer the community with richer data. The technological methods used in the Novice Teachers Use of Video Logs for Reflection Study were vital to creating a network of support and continued critical reflection on the part of both participants and researcher. Louise’s pancakes offer hope for advocacy and a deeper appreciation for how technology can provide a place and space for community, support, self-awareness, and growing efficacy in teaching, learning, and digital communication.
