ABSTRACT

122Studies have been made by agricultural engineers at the University of California at Davis on the effects of adjuvants as wetting agents, spreaders, stickers, emulsifiers, dispersing agents, drift control, foam control, and penetrants when used with pesticide application systems. A protocol has been established for examining the adjuvant and the pesticide chemical in laboratory and field procedures which can aid in determining the effect these have on application factors of flow in spray equipment, drop size and size range, target plant contact and coverage, and losses of the pesticide to air transport and drift.
