ABSTRACT
B. melitensis infection in female sheep and goats causes disease in sexually mature animals. Usually the only symptom is abortion, followed in some cases by retention of the fetal membranes. Manifestations of the infection in male sheep and goats and in cattle will be dealt with later in the chapter.
