ABSTRACT

The radioimmunoassay and competitive binding radioassays have gained wide acceptance and found increasing application in clinical laboratories. The growth in both scope and volume of radioimmunoassays has reached the proportions where many laboratories feel the need to automate the performance of these assays. To begin an assay on the Pace-4® system, the sample cassette is prepared with the standards and samples in the sequence in which they will be counted. The cassette containing the standards and samples is inserted into the cassette loading bay section of the instrument. The Pace-4® system is designed to permit maximum flexibility for the adaptation of a wide range of available assays. The most significant advantage of the Pace-4® system is the flexibility to adapt a variety of radioimmunoassays to automation. The Pace-4® system is designed to capitalize on the cost benefits of bulk reagent supply and minimal operating expenses.
