ABSTRACT

The old saying "out of sight, out of mind" applies perfectly to back injury prevention in the workplace. If we stop paying attention to it, people will lapse into old, bad habits. Laziness will take precedence over safety. Work sites will deteriorate. Training, incidentally, is a tough job, as anyone who has ever stood in front of a group for eight hours and poured himself into his material will tell you. The National Safety Council, American Society of Safety Engineers, or the American Society of Training and Development all offer a number of conferences and seminars. All sorts of good books and tapes on public speaking, training, motivation, and management are readily available in local bookstores as well as from companies like Nightingale-Conant Corporation (Chicago), Empire Communications Corporation, publisher of this book (Phoenix), and the authors' offices.
