ABSTRACT

This chapter examines three general components of the water chemistry profile: statistics, graphics of values, and distribution geographically. In studying the human body, medicine offers several tools. X-rays can be taken to observe the inner structure and blood samples can be taken to understand the body chemistry. With the groundwater database, geologic cross-sections are made to observe the inner structure of the aquifer. Based on the original intent of the groundwater survey and database, the way data are managed and categorized before use in a statistical program may be critical. When water quality data are presented pictorially or graphically, one gains a much fuller understanding of the groundwater system. Once a profile of the water chemistry is made, site investigations and future research into the groundwater of an area can be enhanced by the rapid retrieval of known hydrogeologic information.
