ABSTRACT

In pointing out the diversity in processes and sequences, it is possible to make a false claim of the genetic effects. When one is dealing with the offspring of one generation, it is clear that the theoretically expected ratios among the offspring may be upset by any nonbisexual reproduction that occurs. Various cycles of one species, and the diversity of species cycles within a group such as a class or phylum is suggested in several ways, of which the first is the diversity of processes. Cycles are diverse in several ways: the processes involved may differ, the number of steps in the cycle ranges from one to at least five in obligate cycles and to some larger number in facultative sequences, the number of episodes of each process varies and is sometimes large, and the various processes occur not only in the adult stage but in all developmental stages from the first cleavage of the zygote.
