ABSTRACT

In business, information is available in two forms. Internal information consists of the numbers, trends, and figures people develop as a result of their own business activities. External information is derived from the developments in people's field of business that affect their planning. With electronic databases, the searching is done quickly and the results are available immediately. Through electronic databases, people are no longer limited in their ability to access the entire universe of resources. Some information systems are offering dedicated terminal emulator software programs that allow people to build their search commands offline and then have the software automatically connect to the host, enter their commands, save the data to disk, and then disconnect, all in the most expenditious manner possible. There are hundreds of information providers out there, producing digital equivalents of almost anything one can imagine. Their information is often sold to larger collections of the various databases.
