ABSTRACT

Citrus fruits, including oranges, grapefruit, lemons, mandarins, Clementines, pomelas limes, and other species, are an increasingly important crop the world over. Latest production figures by world regions are given in Table 1. The rate of growth of citrus production is, in most regions, greater than the rate of demographic growth (except in Africa and the Far East). Because of the increasing demand for this fruit, its economic importance can be expected to rise steadily in the coming decade.
