ABSTRACT

A server is both a function and a device. In most communications, it is referred to as a device, since in corporate society today large networks are a given, where super-server is the term du jour. The big trend to downsizing and outsourcing of Information Technology (IT) is based on the fact that companies have been spending too much energy (besides money) on IT and want to refocus their company resources on their core businesses, rather than on technology. By outsourcing basic technology functions, their internal IT staff can focus more on how to use technology for the company, rather than on improving/maintaining the technology itself. There are only two basic reasons to want to have computers connected to each other: to save money and to enjoy the convenience.
