ABSTRACT
Crop plants are productive in an appropriate agronomic setting because they intercept sunlight, absorb and transport water and mineral nutrients, respire and photosyn-thesize, and carry out a great variety of synthetic processes in the construction and storage of plant products, some of which are useful to man.
