ABSTRACT
The chemical composition of soils is a result of the parent material, the age of the soil, and the climate to which the soil has been subjected. All three of these factors are hard to document because the parent material that formed the existing soil is now gone, age is a wild guess except for very young or very old soils and climate can change. In addition, chronological age of a soil and weathering stage are not the same thing at all.
